The rank and promotion structure is similar to that of the Canadian forces.  As our affilliation is to the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, some ranks have alternate titles, but the grade or rank value is the same.
Upon joining the corps, you are a recruit.

Cadet



• This is the first rank to be granted to the cadet.
• signified by the Jimmy worn on the beret.
• for our corps, it is the insignia of the signals regiment

Lance Corporal


Promotion to Lance Corporal (LCpl):
• participate in the first year of the star training program for a minimum period of five months, and
• be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander;

Distinctive rank names
Some Cadet Corps that are affiliated with Canadian Forces branches and regiments may use distinctive rank names in place of Lance Corporal like the following, but not limited to:
Trooper, Gunner, Sapper, Signalman, Craftsman, Guardsman, Rifleman, Fusilier, Highlander.

Corporal



Promotion to Corporal (Cpl):
• hold the rank of LCpl,
• successfully complete year one of the star training program, and
• be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander;


Distinctive rank names
Some Cadet Corps that are affiliated with Canadian Forces branches and regiments may use distinctive rank names in place of Corporal like the following, but not limited to:
Bombardier.

Master Corporal



Promotion to the rank of Master Corporal (MCpl):
• completed at least six months of service at the rank of Cpl,
• have successfully completed the second year of the star training program, and
• be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander;


Distinctive rank names
Some Cadet Corps that are affiliated with Canadian Forces branches and regiments may use distinctive rank names in place of Master Corporal like the following, but not limited to:
Master Bombardier.

Sergeant



Promotion to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt):
• completed at least six months service at the rank of MCpl,
• have successfully completed the third year of the star training program, and
• be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander.


Warrant Officer



Promotion to the rank of Warrant Officer (WO):
• completed at least six months service at the rank of Sgt,
• have successfully completed the fourth year of the star training program,
• have achieved enhanced proficiency in most subject areas including leadership and instructional techniques, and
• be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander.

Master Warrant Officer



Promotion to the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO):
• completed at least six months service at the substantive rank of PO1/WO/FSgt, and
• be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process.


Chief Warrant Officer



Promotion to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO):
• completed at least six months service at the substantive rank of MWO, and
• be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process.
